    The story here in town is that it was family owned and some members left to open a new restaurant at the old Country House on S. Pemberton Rd. taking the name with them. That venture has since gone out of business. Also The Magnolia Rd. Tavern has a fresh coat of paint.

    Symposium on John McPhee's 'Pine Barrens'

    I counted 7 members of this site(3 were presenters) and 2 PBX members. I enjoyed all the presentations and Lost Town Hunter had some great photographs of buildings that are no longer around. I especially liked the photos of the houses at Friendship Bogs and the Fred Brown photo.

    I've heard that Elizabeth White had them growing in Whitesbog for a while but she's been gone since 1954 and they didn't long afterwards.

    On Mikebaker.com you will find Russell Juelg's list of plants in NJ. Mary Hough's book New Jersey Wild Plants might still be available at Amazon. You could also join The Philadelphia Botanical Club and go on their field trips, there are several planned in the pines this year.

    Mary Hough has them listed as native. Found statewide but more in the north, Rare in the pines. Stone has them listed in Hammonton and Ancora. This stand is in Pem. twp. I just heard about them last year.

    A little last minute but, Sunday May 6th there will be a Quarterly Lecture Series at Whitesbog titled Lure of the Pines and presented by Ted Gordon. This is a by reservation event and you can call on Saturday at 609-893-4646. Cost is $5- members $7 non-members.

    I didnt see Galearis spectabilis in any of my field guides. Try Orchis spectabilis, Did you find near where you live? It's more of an Inner coastal plain plant.
