    Big Bird Sighted

5/25/12 ---about 6:43PM, while looking out window - area of Fries Mill Rd and Glassboro Crosskeys Rd, Twp of Washington, saw big bird flying East to West, about 50' high. Had to grab for my eyeglasses, and missed some details. Bird was combination of brown and tan-(impression of barred...

Look! Up in the sky! Its a bird....

Ummm.... Guess you didn't notice this, but at least one generation ago, the authorities began using piloted aircraft of various types for law enforcement, search and rescue, etc. Since we are here discussing the matter, it would appear Civilization-As-We-Know-It has survived. Apart from...

    Coyotes today

Apparently some folks hunt coyotes in the Barrens - at night. Learned that from my son, who has contacts in the Red Lion area.

    Coyotes today

They look reasonably well-nourished, playful, and energetic. It must be a fairly large pack. I would guess-based on other wild dog behaviors-the parents ,and one or two other adults might be out foraging.

    Window Watching Notes

Followup: One of the rascals flew into a nearby yard: probably not a raven. More likely a dimensionally gifted (big-ass) crow. About the size of a Coopers Hawk - but shorter tail.

    Window Watching Notes

Hope nobody minds, but I have a new * sighting : ravens, I believe. They are quite distant, and no details can be seen, but they are about twice the size of a crow, use the same "get-outa-my-way" flying style as a crow, and are dive-bombed by smaller birds as they pass tree clump "...

    Kindle users?

Have the Kindle and Kindle Fire: like em both ! I believe I have about 350 books on the Kindle now : great considering my limited living space. I have one book and one TV series going on the Fire-plus a huge music library.

A Hat, a hut, or a tavern: The Tale of Ong’s Hat.

Ben, that was GREAT !!! About 20 years ago, when I was packaging and selling musical strings as a sideline , I began marketing Ong's Hat Banjo strings-with an advertising blurb to the effect the Jersey Devil had come upon poor Ong while he was picking under a tree. The only thing left was...

    Seen Yesterday !

Saw these creatures in the pines yesterday ; asked them : "Where is our good friend Maurice Sendak ?" I'm not sure, but I think one answered: " He's where the Wild Things are now." Sendak was 83 when he left us.

    Moonshiners Show

Laird's Applejack is at its best (IMHO), when mixed with a nice semi-sweet grape wine: about 1 oz "Jack" to a glass of Merlot-stir gently with swizzle stick, spoon, fork, Kabar, or fingers. (OK to lick fingers afterwards.) It is equivalent to a boilermaker. and-even sitting home- I limit...

    Fear of Dying

I suppose that's one way of handling it. I can't help but think of my wife, who died 5 years ago last month: wanting to die, but afraid of dying-but-when she was finally released, I "saw" her go. She was 17, and wearing a prom dress-and was full of joy. She stopped and asked me to say goodbye...

This seems a good time to wish everybody - religious, atheist, deist, undecided, and otherwise: Happy Easter !!
