Them sound like they might be fighting words in the KY hills! RednekF350 - The closest i cld get to that yankee was a kid in my elementary school class who showed me a framed letter on his wall purportedly written by his great great grandfather or something to Lincoln suggesting he grow a...

Lovely day kayaking on the Mullica up to Lock's Bridge

I used my ik all over - in rivers, lakes, bays, and even out into the ocean off the coast. My last one that i had for a long time was the Sea Eagle Explorer. It was very strong, made of the same material they use for inflatable power boats. I have a photo of it at Lake Oswego in the PB on here...

Lovely day kayaking on the Mullica up to Lock's Bridge

I used to love canoing, and kayaking in my ik (inflatable kayak), in the Pine Barrens. I miss that. It's been a long time. I even went in the winter, breaking through the ice.

    Pine snakes

They no longer recognize that 136 Sahara desert temp as proven legit, and i believe they r also no longer recognizing the 134 Death Valley - yes, Badwater salt flats - temp as legit - so when i was there in that photo above it was the hottest confirmed day on earth (tho I'm told it got even...

    Pine snakes

Not sure. Not sure i was even really snakebit. I had been camping in and around Death Valley in July 1995. temp up to 130 one day on the salt flats which was just 4 degrees less than the hottest authenticated temp ever recorded on earth at the same place (did it again there this year!). That...

You have rattlesnakes. I've seen bigger ones in NY-NJ than I have in Arizona. I almost stepped on a giant one up in Near Mtn State Park. I got snake bit near Death Valley though.

    railroads in the pines

A couple of years ago i posted the pictures i took of a train wreck - overturned RR cars - near Carranza Memorial about 50 years ago. And, speaking of the bombing range, 21 years ago when my rented car got bogged down in a remote part of the barrens (exact location still saved on my gps, i...

Driving thru the Pine Barrens in May 1975 in my '75 Subaru

They were great on the narrow sand roads, small, good ground clearance and traction, and another great advantage they had over the big 4WD pickup truck i have now is that u could c what's in front of you. The big truck hood badly blocks the view, especially if u r going over an incline. The...

Pine Barrens Jamboree October 9, 2021

Thank you! I always liked that event. They used to activate the water mill-driven lumber mill and everything and maybe they still do! I told my friend about it. Maybe she'll go. She remembered that i once bought her a beautiful blue bottle from that Fair. I forgot about that. I have a...

Is anything in them? Can u c inside them? It looks like the type of thing that people might use to hide things in, like a PVC cache.
