    The Sale of Atsion Furnace

Yes, I see. It would seem that the Wescoat Bogs did not exist in 1880, based on this excerpt.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

But they've been sitting in that one spot clocking passing cars.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I'd say that is a rather curious use of law enforcement considering recent developments in Wharton.

563 wasn't closed off at the intersection yesterday.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

So what's with the Park Police waiting at the intersection of Rt. 679 and Rt. 563 clocking traffic? Doesn't seem right.

    The Sale of Atsion Furnace

Nice find, Spung-Man! That is a description of Wescoat Bogs. Tracker Jim and I were just poking around there today. The Mechescatuxen loses a significant amount of water to Sleepy Creek, which largely explains its extremely modest discharge into the Atsion Creek.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

I concur. Based on what I've heard from Rob, the State would eventually like to put in place restrictions that would almost make these closures seem modest. Such restrictions would include, as Guy mentioned, limiting foot traffic to established trails as well as limiting canoe/kayak/boat...

I'm no more happy about it than you are, FYI.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

That's true of Double Trouble, but not for any of the "authorized" access points in Wharton. The idea that it will be somehow impractical to personally launch a boat at Atsion, Constable Bridge, Pleasant Mills, Oswego Lake, Harrisville, Evan's Bridge, Tulpehocken Bridge, etc. is an idea that is...

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

This argument is asinine and needs to be dropped. It makes us look bad.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Why do you have this idea that we can't share the launching spots with the liveries? We've been doing it for decades.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

Not again...Pinelands Adventures is restricted to the same roads as everyone else. This poorly thought out argument needs to die once and for all.

ORV Management In Sensitive Areas Of Wharton

From Greg's article: "Every year the Park Service and the state of New Jersey turn down comprehensive, reoccurring federal funds for motorized multi-use trails through the Recreational Trails Program (RTP), as part of an estimated gas-tax refund." I would like more details. Rob denies having...

Old Hotel That Never Was on the Mullica

The structure was built prior to the State's purchase of the Wharton tract. Budd Wilson surmises that the construction was halted when the Wharton heirs discovered it some 100 years ago or so.

Your Forest Under Attack: MAP Misinformation from the DEP

I think woodjin made a good point about the advantage of patrolling the hot spots over patrolling the main roads. Besides, the police will still have to patrol many of the closed roads. I hope you see where I'm coming from in opposing the sweeping closures. I'll let you know when I play at...

Your Forest Under Attack: MAP Misinformation from the DEP

Good mornin', Jason. Jemima Mount, as I pointed out, has been closed to motor vehicle traffic for years. The damage did not stop. Instead, it worsened. Some steep fines here and there would go such a long way in deterring people from destroying the hill, don't you agree? You wrote...
