    Actually, I'm thinking that the stream was called Governor's Stream before the pond was called Governor's Pond.

    I don't doubt it. But take a look at the 1931 aerial and note that the pond seems to be the result of the stream getting backed up by a road/causeway.

    Just thinking out loud here... I was wondering if Governor's Pond was named in honor of Jeremiah Basse, one of the early governors. Bass River is named after him (so I understand), so maybe this pond as well?
