Wrangel Brook and Randolph's saw mill

http://gallery.njpinebarrens.com/dat...s_Sheet_13.jpg Jerseyman, the location you list as the possible site of the mill dam appears to correspond to the embankments that are depicted here: http://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.9516286386518&lng=-74.21428799629211&z=17&type=nj1930&gpx=...

Wrangel Brook and Randolph's saw mill

Steve, once we got to the junction of the two streams, we walked up the Davenport for about 10 minutes. We passed a few retirment houses on the way. Lots and lots of fallen trees on that stretch. We then waqlked back to our canoe and paddled up the Wrangel for only about 5 minutes or so until...

Wrangel Brook and Randolph's saw mill

I knew Jerseyman would come through with some valuable information! The junction of the two streams has certainly shifted upstream, either through natural means or by the work of man. Below marks the present point of confluence...

Wrangel Brook and Randolph's saw mill

Today, Yvonne (infinite sameness) and I launched a canoe on Tom's River just upstream from Route 9. Paddling upstream, we passed under the Parkway bridge above which the river forks where its two major tributaries join forces. Our plan was to paddle up the lesser tributary, the Wrangel (or...

    Stage Road Repair Work

I think that's been a matter of dispute. The recreational center of Bass River SF is (realistically) only accessible via Stage Road. With thousands of people flocking there during the Summer, it would only be the right thing for the State to repair it.

    Stage Road Repair Work

Good to hear. It's a shame that the County has to compesate for the horrendous inadequacy of our lovely State of NJ.

    The Upper Batsto

Yep, that seems to be the case. I got a measurement of five feet of peat thickness across the river from my house. Don't want to get stuck in that muck.

Right, but I was thinking of the grayish streaks at the bottom right corner of the photo which seem(?) to correspond with the dark lines in the 1930 fly-over.

    Batsto Africa, a PBX Hike

No doubt about it. I'd bet that all of those forgotten channels of the Batsto were mined at some point.
