I just rode around the fire yesterday evening. It definitely cleared out the underbrush north of Penn Swamp.Didn't seem to burn as hot south of the swamp.Didn't look like it crowned,at least not on the perimeter. It was getting dark so I didn't cut through the center on the sand roads that went...

    I hate mylar balloons

The balloons are unsightly and they are literally everywhere. In the deepest darkest swamp but very occasionally I will happen on a bunch with some helium still in them.Party Time! I have entertained many an explorer with bawdy songs sung in the key of helium.

God Bless hunters. Sometimes we rub each other wrong but without them NJ would be an asphalt parking lot.Might take up the sport again when I retire and have time, mostly for skins.Hard to get well skinned animals for my buckskin brain tan hobby. Most hunters hack the skins off with a machete.

11 things lurking in New Jersey's forests

The only one in this article I consider a serious threat would be the very bottom one. How often do you hear of deaths by Bobcats or Coyotes? Poison Ivy is a plant form hell but I have never heard of it killing anyone.Hogweed is an unknown to me.Has anyone on the forum encountered it in South...
