Not to belabor the issue, but Merriam Webster shows it as an early (14th century) English word for a bad tempered woman http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/jade and there is a similar Oxford finding. http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/jade--2

The full-page ad in a Philadelphia paper doesn't sound much like "fakelore" . I read it while on a camping trip --but -of course, had no way of verifying it. Jade is a well-established (if antique) name for a female indentured servant.
