    Cape May County Explorations

They were eating me alive inland in July. It was awful! It was around mid to late July that I stopped on the roadside by a marsh and swampy woods to eat a sandwich. I still had my high boots on and I rolled up the windows cause the flies were knocking on them. I was dying as my air conditioner...

I was back at Cape May, on a dune in the maritime forest. Fabulous. This must be what it looked like in, say, 1400. Made me feel good inside.

    Jones Road Fire Effects

On the embankment of the old RR, I saw what looked to maybe be something they burned in the locomotive? I turned it over, and was curious so snipped a piece to see if it would burn. I was thinking anthracite. I got it to glow red after 20 seconds, but no flame and no smoke. Maybe it has to be...

The ride back there from Well's Mill is always a test. Some gyrations must be done near some of the waterholes. Now they are making very unsightly ditches to drain the road. Some of them go back almost 40 feet.

Waterside Asters. If you know where the pit is next to the Parkway, that's where this is. A borrow bit likley.

Here, the South Branch crosses the old Tuckerton RR. It was grating to see that, because the ATV'rs would not or could not go through it when high like this, they had a cedar chopping party. Even left the beer cans there. If you are one of them, pick up the cans when you return.

This was out there the whole time I was nearby, about 3 hours. I only post this in case someone had this stolen. More likely, he had a breakdown issue, as nobody would simply park it where it was.

    Jones Road Fire Effects

I had to go back, I wanted to see what the South Branch looked like close to the Parkway. But first, here is something puzzling from the Middle Branch. I'm not sure if we discussed this before, my memory could be failing me, but I don't recall it.

    Music for the day

I have my relationship with God. When I first heard this song from Bob Dylan, it was around the time I most intensely felt close to God. The song he wrote was eye-opening. Nobody escapes from it. You can almost see Bob's finger wagging at someone when he says "you're gonna have to serve...

    West Mill Rd access

Why do you think that? It used to be that the fire servcice was annoyed when roads like that are closed.

    West Mill Rd access

Do you know what the absolute worst thing about this closing is? It is that no authorities; not the state, not the town of Hammonton, nor the county it is situated in, will tell us why it cannot be opened. They just flip us off with the middle finger.

    Where is this?

I don't think we were looking for a marker, we were just rummaging around. Although I don't rembember Jess being there it certainly could have been so. It had to be 20 years ago at least.

    Cape May County Explorations

I have turned my attention to Two Mile Beach, also part of the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge. I had to wait unil 1 October due to bird/turtle/horseshoe crab movement and nesting. I have to admit, It's great having the run of the joint. But, like the animal below, I have a purpose (as noted...
