    Friendship pictures - March 2014

The trees and stumps have been put there as a deterrent to protect the foundations and property. It is a quick fix until a more permanent solution can be set in place.

    Where is this?

Not that it makes it any better, but that memorial plaque has been there for several years and it is epoxied to the wall.

    Abandoned racetracks.

I wonder how many buildings were built from the recycled lumber from the track? I can't image what the board feet could be from all of the lumber pictured.

    NJ concealed carry case....

You are right it does. I must of not "clicked" on it with my mouse.

    NJ concealed carry case....

As of June 8 of last year, Pennsylvania no longer recognizes Florida non-resident CCW. I thought I would bring that important change to light since the map didn't show the change.

    NJ concealed carry case....

I have a Florida non-resident CCW license. Look at both Florida and Utah. Some states don't have reciprocity for one or the other, so consider where you will be traveling most and what states honor Fla/Ut non-resident licenses. Make your decision on that specific point. Here is a link for up...

Does anyone know what building or buildings were below the packing house in Ed's hand drawn map? There is a concrete pad and depression in the general area where Friendship is written. If I remember correctly they are in the trees behind the "jug handle" parking area off of Hawkins Bridge.

Funny thing, when I looked at the last picture I swear I could smell the pine mixed with the cool air.

    Where is this?

Is this just up from High Crossing? The rail was pushed at the cut by a truck causing it to bend.

    Where is this?

Teegate, is it the backside of Parker Preserve by the cedar plantings? I only know of two places were the cedar posts for the fences are still standing and that is one of them.

    Big coyote

The woods around the sand pit along Pasadena are a very good place to see a coyote. I have seen more coyotes in the general area of the Rt 72 and Pasadena crossroads that anywhere else. I shot this on the run while a large blond phase coyote crossed along the track directly in front of me last...

Bobpbx, thank you for sharing these slides ( and the others that you have yet to show :) ). It is a treat for me to see the old images of what use to be.

Does anyone know what this is?

I would like to add that there is a dim canal that appears to have feed the Cutts bogs from reservoir(s) behind the cellars at Calico. Maybe these pools were easier to use than the pump station. (I may be using the name Calico in reference to the wrong area.)

    Delaware River Ice

The river is frozen completely over by the bridges and the ice is thicker than I am tall in spots...over six feet!

    Bats Active

I was out in the East Plains for most of today and while walking back to my car, around 4:00 or so, I saw a bat flying at a leisurely rate up Log Lane. It was odd seeing it flying just above my head. Maybe the warm weather brought it out this weekend. I don't know what species it was.

Is overnight trail camping legal in the Belleplain area?

Yes it is!!! I got tired napping in my car or on a blanket last summer and treated myself to a fine hammock system. I set it up in my backyard Christmas morning because I was so excited. I can't wait to use it and the set came with a bug net!!! The Eagles Nest Outfitters is the brand.
