    Ammunition Depot

As a kid growing up in Forked River, I heard people talk about how the military stored ammunition in the pines. People talked about bunkers and buildings. I heard they were near the railroad bed. Not too long ago they burned the area between the mountain and the railroad bed. There are now 3...

    Forked River Mountain

Was out on the mountain on Monday afternoon. The county has 3 pieces of equipment at the "white gate entrance" off of Lacey Rd. Driving by I could see a grader and tree cutter, The mountain still looks the same with the north side still eroding badly. The county seems to be taking their time...

    Dover and Lacey Roads

And while were at it there is this old foundation too. It is small so I assume it is a gun club. But always wondered if the access to the creek down the road was to move things down the creek? https://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.89628819385302&lng=-74.3099095857965&z=17&type=nj2007&gpx=

What was the big long one across the street? The road leading to it now has a small gate in front of it right off Lacey Rd. https://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.90167944068464&lng=-74.32315969833007&z=17&type=nj1930&gpx=

    Up high...

I was at the top in August. I watched the trains pull up to the top and leave. Spoke to the engineer about how it all works. Pretty interesting and ballsy if you ask me. They were definitely diesel powered that day

Wow, that is very unlikely and quite a shame. You probably have a better chance of getting bit by a shark or hit by lightning.

Sand pits near Forked River Mountain?

Some look like they are along roads. Are they just run-off pits for water. Perhaps the older ones were along roads that are overgrown. The last pic looks like there is and old road possibly. What is the distance between these pits?

    Winter photos so far

Like usual, very nice work Jon. I was excited when you showed the pic of the Snowy Owl, but blown away by the nesting pair of Bald Eagles sitting on that roof top so majestically. The river otter would have been a great shot too!

    Rancocas State Park

This is my sons favorite hike that is not in the mountains of NJ. We usually go every couple of years. We always called it the cabin. When we first went the house was damaged put not tagged up. Each time we go it is worse. Teegates recent pictures, saddens me to see what it looks like now. I...
