    Small Tree in Tabernacle

Hey, you don't know your ash from a hole in the ground. That's over used too. :D PS: German's last post is correct.

    Small Tree in Tabernacle

Ron, your suggestion was good, and it made me realize I was barking up the wrong tree (barking up the wrong tree...good one, right?). I thought it was an Ash, and so that's why I could not nail it down...it just didn't fit. I think I have it now, but I don't think it's a sumac at all. Here's a...

    Small Tree in Tabernacle

Here's an odd one for you. I think I have it nailed down to the genus, but it has two features that are not matching up with what it keys to. It's somewhat fragrant, and the leaflets are sessile on the rachis, meaning, they have no small subpetiole, it's attached right to the stem of the leaf...

Construction Of New Tabernacle Town Hall Hits Road Block

I wish something would happen to open the road back up. I use it frequently to visit family. I noticed something recently that is bothersome, but may be an optical illusion. When I approach the hall from the east, it looks like the far end is leaning a bit toward the road. Just shore it up with...

    Years Ago Today

I've always found it interesting that, in a place like Medford, when the lake one lives on is full, it's a paradise to them. "Oh, the view!" But when the lake is drained, it's a stark world, shoddy and repelling. So, there is an illusion going on. But I'm not really making fun of them, I'd feel...

    Cape May County Explorations

No, I didn't. But, as you well know as a competent explorer, when plants on the margin of a swamp reach for the sun, anything could be hiding beneath the growth.

Another plant fronting on Petersberg road. Very lush here. I have the same plant from roadside bamber. You cound fit 4 leaves of the bamber one into one of these.

    Cape May County Explorations

Yes, it's a bad actor. A couple weeks ago I was along a stream, and I saw a branch out of the corner of my eye next to me which was even with the top of my head. I moved the top of my hand to some of the leaves to tilt the branch up. I immediated recognized it was poison sumac. A few bisters...

    Cape May County Explorations

Very good. My confidence decreases every time I look up to see the leaves. They are either all jumbled up with other branches from other trees, or it's too dark to see them. I remember the third one as being American Holly.

    Spring/Summer Flora

I thought this was going to be a white orchid in Cape May. It turned out to be a ragged fringed orchid. Common in South Jersey.

    This tree on Davenport Road

Yes. I think someone tossed out an apple and a seed took root. It was not tart, kind of like a too-young golden delicious. It keys best to Malus prunifolia.
