    Music for the day

Why yes, he was! (and a tie into a song for Scott). I lit out from Reno, I was trailed by twenty hounds Didn't get to sleep that night till the morning came around Set out running but I take my time A friend of the devil is a friend of mine If I get home before daylight I just might get some...

    Music for the day

I bought this album in the mid-70's I think. Still have it. It's a fascinating story about John Babbacombe Lee, the English man who survived three attempts to hang him. Fairport Convention made this album around his life leading up to the murder (not sure he did it) and the hanging attempts...

    Old pic of pine plains

I certainly could be wrong, but I recall the gentleman (if there is one) had one foot on the running board.

There is another. I think you were also correct in your first post.

While We Were Sleeping, Very Bad Things Happened

Guy still up at 9:50 pm? You really are living the good life now. You were in bed by 8:30 when you worked.

A Picture Tacked to a Tree

Oh, I see, you saw the first one without writing on it. Did you read the writing on the second one?...."Thief! You will be prosecuted for stealing"!

    Music for the day

I used to work, in 1973, in a little company that sold cable and wire in Mount Holly (American Cable Corp). The bar around the corner (across 38 from the old inspection station (still there?) was a bar I can't remember the name of. That got a lot of play on the juke box. I like it.

    Prescribed Burning Starts Today

And then there's this. I knew it was unually cold here in Manahawkin. I mostly moved myself, and then had to do a lot of work on the house. Depressingly cold bringing all my possessions in with the door open.

    Prescribed Burning Starts Today

Looks like last month was the 3rd lowest amount of precipitation in NJ statewide in January in 130 years. If I'm reading it right. https://climate.rutgers.edu/stateclim_v1/nclimdiv/

    Some Pemberton/New Lisbon History

Good photos. I'll bet that mill has cedar siding (maybe). I went through Pemberton to get to middle school and high school. I went to marcus newcomb and then the high school across the street. I wonder if that's grain piled under the window on top of the first level.

Looking for more information on historic Drosera collection areas- bogs and state park features from 80s and before.

I tried crossing that area, and gave up. It's a lowland of shrubs, if I recall highbush blueberry, sheeplaurel, and leatherleaf. Too tight to travel easily.

Looking for more information on historic Drosera collection areas- bogs and state park features from 80s and before.

Jack, those directions are far too vague to make any sense of them. That species is fairly common, though not as common as D. intermedia, so it would not surprise me if you found more by looking yourself among the bogs and stream banks in the same Forests / creeks you mentioned. By the way...

    The Pinelands

My brother gave me this before he passed away. Had it rolled up in his house. 20X30. I think Ted Gordon gave them a photo to draw the art. Just hung it up.

    Music for the day

This, in my opinion, is the best Neil Young song. Take a poignant story likely set in 19th century rural America, of a young adult left by his father temporarily to defend his family living on the river. Along comes the great threat of a white boat with men and guns. The young adult is unsure...

    Henry Charlton Beck

I want to recall the memory of Beck, but didn't want to fill up Tom's Hanover Furnace thread. I was thinking of Beck while thumbing through some of his books looking for information. Why did many of us love Henry Charlton Beck? Sure, he had his flaws in not having all of the data correct, but...

    House at Hanover Furnace

In "New Jersey Forges and Furnaces" there is a photo of the Hanover Furnace ruins, although it's very similar to a photo I've seen of Speedwell ruins. I could be wrong. From Becks "Forgotten Towns of Southern NJ", Beck says: "The earliest picture known to be in existence is a daguerreotype...
