    Island Beach

A friend and I were hiking about 8,000 feet up in Denali National Park when we saw a wolf about 400 feet higher, loping along with a radio collar on. It was unnatural, and although I can't fully explain why, he looked bothered by it. Every so often he would shake his head as if annoyed with the...

I don't like banding animals in general, and especially banding of birds. And I don't care who disagrees with me, or who thinks they can persuade me that it's good for the future of the species. I still don't like it.

    Russ Anderson Road

Thanks Guy, very interesting. I'll bet they were able to use horses for hunting in Greenwood Forest because of the charcoaling being done for New Brunswick homes just 20 years earlier. Colliers took over 220,000 bushels of charcoal out of those woods from 1828 through 1829.

    Where is this?

You may find some! I walked around the building looking for Kneiskern's Beak Sedge. I did not see it, but I didn't do a complete search. The perimeter is open and slightly damp in spots. Good for all sorts of things.

    Where is this?

Here's another clue: You are driving ENE on a sand road, with a beautiful lake on your right. On the left side of the road, out of the corner of your eye, you see a building off in the woods, about 350 feet away. As usual, you wonder what it is, and often think that it's associated with the......
