The "March of Ives" a PBX Hike

That would have been far downstream at route 542, right Jerseyman? I'd like to poke around there someday. We stopped at 679, by Timberland Lake Resort.

The "March of Ives" a PBX Hike

Nice day for an outing in early February, that's for sure. Thanks Guy, Scott, Gabe, Jess, and Paul. This area was nicer than I thought it would be. We gave the trip an 8.25 out of 10. Looking ahead to the way foward, consulting the maps: Guy takes his break: A pleasant land in...

    Vanity Plate

"By any measure, Exxon Mobil’s performance last year was a blowout. The company reported Friday that it beat its own record for the highest profits ever recorded by any company, with net income rising 3 percent to $40.6 billion, thanks to surging oil prices. The company’s sales, more than...

Frank's Ford, Tub Mill, and Amatol

Jerseyman, I notice that the mapmaker only showed two trees back then, both of them pretty large. Is that all there was back then in that area, just two trees? Just kidding of course. I love to see maps that show that sort of thing. It tickles me and I actually like it. Its kinda neat and cozy.

    Slag vs. Pig Iron???

The problem is, you say Atsion, Ben says Batsto. Maybe they moved it to Atsion?

    Environmental Hazardous Waste Services

Well John, if your job is going to be respecting crime scene cleaners, then you certainly need to be an agreeable person with a lot of love to share, to give freely to those you respect. It would certainly not hurt to take a few courses in human relations too.

    Slag vs. Pig Iron???

Whoa! That is the same piece of slag as the historic photo Ben posted, right? Does anyone else see it that way?

    An icy beaver pond

Yes you do. You are a natural trip designer. Right up there along with Lewis and Clarke.

    An icy beaver pond

I think they are talking about the pond we almost made it to on the legendary (will live in infamy) "Shiver Me Timbers and Blow me Down" PBX trip.

    An icy beaver pond

It does look good for skating. I love skating but have not done it in 10 years. I keep threatening to buy very good skates and do it again.

    My "ultimate GPS" quest continues...

Good report on that unit Boyd. Did you notice that in the technical description it says it is the latest in "infotainment". That is a new word; a take on entertainment. Have you ever come across this word before? I find it interesting. It fits a guy like you.

    Question about Cedar Grove Park

Doggone it Guy! Sorry to hear you are injured my Pine Barren Brother. I hope it heals quickly and nothing serious has been done. That is a real freak accident. Whats with the snow on the ground? None up here in Bamber.

    barren nights

That is another great one! I think Bill, that you should find a good printer, frame some of these, and get yourself a booth at one of the festivals (Whitesbog, Wells Mills, Batsto), just to have some fun and see what happens. Better yet, get about a dozen of them together and to see if there is...

Frank's Ford, Tub Mill, and Amatol

Mark, they had something wrong in the old map. They show the Mill east of Bridgeport, which is now Wading River. You are showing the actual named creek well upstream from there. The one now named Tub Mill Branch does not have enough water to dampen a dish towel.

    danger in the pines?

What did he tell you about that experience tracker? I'd like to hear his thoughts on that.

Frank's Ford, Tub Mill, and Amatol

Very nice report Mark. Nice pictures too. Try to put them in the bigger than thumbnail size though. Its easier to read without jumping into the photo gallery. In two weeks, God willing and the creek don't rise, I'll be the Tub Mill Branch area.

    Hand-made vacuum tubes

I enjoyed that as well. I agree with this post on that site: "The really cool part (besides the little tools that made it all come together) was that he started with the scissors in a Swiss Army Knife and needle-nose pliars to form the Anode."
