    Intriguing Restoration

This is in my neck of the woods. The changes that guy made to a string of abandoned moonscaped pits are staggering. He also assembled a lot off good ag parcels like the land you see near the Route 30 Ancora bridge. I really hope the sporting dog part of McNeil's passions is preserved as it...

    The Sale of Atsion Furnace

Another selling point, if it had it been there at the time, could have been this: Just 320 rods to the north lies a warm tavern and inn with liquors and provisions of highest quality. The innkeeper is heralded for his local fowl steeped in hot oils and dressed with elixirs that rival the heat...

Garmin GPSMap 62s on sale at REI for $200

Just did an update to 4.0 with Webupdater but there was not a s or m modifier anywhere. After the update was complete, I had a choice to update "Chipset g" ?? I did not select that and closed out. My software check in the unit now says: Software Version 4.00 GPS 2.90s. The s modifier wasn't...

Garmin GPSMap 62s on sale at REI for $200

Boyd, I did the software check tonight on my son's 60 CSX. It says Software 3.5o and GPS 2.90. Do you think this unit already has the MTK chipset ? I re-read the thread you posted and I really don't see a definitive answer on determining which chipset is installed. Thanks for your help with this.

    Comcast speed increase

I just ran a scan and I have 31.48 download and 11.54 upload speeds. Ping is 16 I have no idea what any of that means. Is it worth a wireless router upgrade ? Can I launch the space shuttle with my laptop ?

Garmin GPSMap 62s on sale at REI for $200

Maybe I will just buy the CSX from my son, since he really doesn't use it and then buy a new Bluechart chip. I used the CSX on Wednesday on a work project. I extracted some NAD 83 X Y's from NJ Geoweb and converted them to lat/ lon using Corpscon. I almost tripped over both stones that I...

Garmin GPSMap 62s on sale at REI for $200

What changes would be noticeable, if any, with the MTK chipset ? I read through the link you posted and it seems like everyone has a different opinion.

Garmin GPSMap 62s on sale at REI for $200

Thanks Boyd, this may be the tipping point for me to buy a new unit. I lost my 60CSX this past summer and it had my Bluechart chip in it at the time. Fortunately, I had a recent download of my waypoints that I needed to upload to my 740s chartplotter. My son then bought an unused 60CSX from a...

Is it ok to shoot dumpers?

I am very happy to see that road returned to its original state. Those piles were a constant reminder of the arrogance and ignorance of someone who cared about nothing.

The Woods of Cave Cabin and Long Branch

Al, It's a huge stormwater basin that collects surface water runoff from the base of the adjoining capped landfill. Amazingly clean looking and I found some pickerel frames up in the woods picked clean by a critter of some denomination.

Is it ok to shoot dumpers?

Thanks to the efforts of many dedicated people involved in the 12th annual 4WD Wharton Cleanup yesterday, this shingle dump spot has been thoroughly cleaned. It took approximately 10 people 4-1/2 hours with several trucks to get it all but it is done. Terry grabbed some photos which I believe...

The Woods of Cave Cabin and Long Branch

After suffering the tragic loss of my son's 5 year old lab Hank (who lived with us) last week, I really needed this hike to help my healing. Hank was the best dog, hunter and the gentlest soul I have ever known and he will never be replaced. With that weighing on my mind, I wanted to bring my...

Cranberry Fest and Batsto Country Living Fair

Yes sir, I did. Today is the South zone waterfowl opener and I had a date with some quackers. Michael staked out our spot at 1:00 a.m. I motored in to the spot very leisurely with a friend in a Bass Tender at 4:30 a.m. Us old guys are entitled to a few extra hours sleep. Slow day. Two teal...

    Tavern in Pleasant Mills, NJ

Enjoying some 6 week old Pinot Noir right now. A little cloudy but there is something to be said about the fruitiness of green wine. It will be killer by Thanksgiving but that's a long way off. :)

    Along the Cave Cabin Branch

Unless someone wants to pay dearly for seeing his actual property lines opened up and surveyed, we set points where we can gain the most ground in the shortest amount of time. The calculations made from the traverse points make it easier to find the corners. As an example, I would set a...
