    Silver Fox Up For Auction

I could really cook up some ass kickin' backwoods grub with the kitchen that is in that place Bob. I walked through it last year with the owner and it must have been something when it was up and running. Deer, barbecued sky rat and home made red wine would be my house specialties ! :D

Will eagles or hawks attack housecats?

We got our springer from a breeder in Kintnersville, Pa. She kept a tent in the back yard over a small fenced area where she would cautiously allow new pups to play out of view of the redtails.

    The NEW Beer Thread

More like Philadelphia is on them for unpaid business "privilege" tax. Sounds like something the Philly Mob came up with. http://www.wfmz.com/news/Regional-Poconos-Coal/City-of-Brotherly-Love-wants-to-tap-Yuengling-for-6-6M-in-back-taxes/-/149546/18432704/-/l8nqwn/-/index.html

    Silver Fox Up For Auction

I just drove by the Silver Fox and there is a large sign out front along the Pike advertising an auction. The auction will be held March 27, 2013. Sad. From what I could read of the sign at 50 miles an hour, it seems to be advertising all of the land (26+/- acres), the bar and I think I saw...

    Bald Eagle Spotted

We had a bald eagle attempt to "steal" a cripple from us this past season while goose hunting. The cripple got out of the field and made into a long driveway leading up to a farm house. The eagle swooped and pounced and then perched on the goose's back. It started ripping at the rear end on top...

    Turkey

Wild turkey breast, on the other hand, is superb. I make a Marsala wine and portabella mushroom sauce that is dewishus. I tried boiling the legs and then barbecuing. They could have been used as weapons.

    Turkey

Laugh if you want, there will be a turkey apocalypse in the not too distant future. I mentioned this to a few of the guys on Saturday when we were listening to the gunfire.

Bass River Headwaters Area ... A PBX Hike

Well, it wasn't the greatest day for a plow through the woods but it sure beat working or a muddy stick in the eye. The area is a huge tract of pines wilderness, far from any beaten paths and the headwaters of the Bass River. We started with a cold gray sky overhead that eventually started...

    Reflections at Friendship

Took a solo ride to Friendship this afternoon. No dogs, no wife, no sunken trucks, no wind, some beer. I thought it would be a good day for water pics because of the lack of wind but I knew that there would be a little ice. I wasn't disappointed. The first stop was a partially frozen bog...

    Superbowl Pre-Game In the Pines

Well, it's back in action after multiple trans flushes. The windows are fogging on the inside from the saturated interior and the there is water still leaking out of the floor pan into the street but it runs. Takes a lickin', keeps on tickin'.

    Superbowl Pre-Game In the Pines

ECM is fine because we ran it all the way home and an even worse dunking last year didn't kill it. Mechanic buddy holds some hope since tranny was freshly rebuilt a year ago. He is hoping with fluid changes all the way around it may be salvageable. The Jeep has 270,000 miles on it now but with...

NJ man shot deer from truck while using girlfriend as gunrest

Mike, Game dinners have always been excepted for non-profits. Not sure how some restaurants like the Pic pull that off each year if it is in fact wild venison that they are selling. Here is the text from the NJ Game Laws: "It is illegal to sell deer meat, deer antlers or any part of a deer...

2 turtle hunters pulled from icy northern NJ river

You only need a fishing license to take turtles and bull and green frogs in NJ. The season is in fact open all year, except for a 2 month window in the spring to allow breeding. Snappers can be taken from freshwater only, above the salt line demarcations on rivers. Crowley's Landing on the...

2 turtle hunters pulled from icy northern NJ river

There is a thread about this incident on New Jersey Hunter too. Apparently some people actually target them in winter. These are hibernating turtles. One guy said they used to use a gaff and stick the gaff handle into the river banks until they heard a hollow thud. Then they would gaff the...

    2013 Lines On The Pines

Whoops. Hard to spell check German. I actually had two years of German in high school. I took it only because the teacher was the hottest looking woman I had ever seen at that point in my young life. I was mesmerized and when she left, I dropped German. How shallow of me. :)

    Superbowl Pre-Game In the Pines

She was surprisingly cheerful, even though those particular photos don't make it appear that way. Her biggest concern was that she was following my directions correctly to find us. She even brought us snacks ! The dogs appreciated that as well.
