Exploring Deep In the Forked River Mountain Area

Though hot, we had a great day. That is such a wonderfully primitive area. Here is a bird Guy saw. It was about 150 yards from us, so this is the best my camera could do. I think it might be a green heron?

Cedar Creek - Double Trouble - Clear water question

One more thing. The actual stream corridor for Cedar Creek is very narrow, not many (if any) flood plains where water can sit in vegetation for quite awhile (picking up more tannins) before being flushed out to the river.

Cedar Creek - Double Trouble - Clear water question

Mark, I admit the PH scale can be confusing the way it was set up, but didn't you mean a "lower" PH decreases biological productivity? And would it be more correct to say less iron means more biological activity? I can attest to Cedar Creek being very much spring fed. Plus, it is much shorter...

    Bluefish

Speaking of that, I'm due for a new grill, and was intrigued by this one due to the cast iron insert it comes with (I hate the smell of frying indoors). What do you think of this new grill system Scott? I am hesitant, thinking I'd rarely use the insert due to having to clean it after...

I bought another tray of campari tomatoes from the supermarket yesterday. Does that count? :)

    The Ladys of Bamber

Found these four sweet ladies in one cluster. JCP&L had cut the vegetation under the power lines, and they popped up.

    Black Bears in the pines

Yes Scott, correct. ChileHead has a good one too! PS: that video is really embarrassing Scott. White boys really have no soul when they dance, though it won't stop me from trying!

    Iron in the Pines

And, Guy, you are absolutely right on that chapter on Aserdaten. That is the first story I think of when I think of Beck. Great stuff!

    Black Bears in the pines

I took a bite of the root bulb once while out in the woods. Your description is accurate. Lips are affected too. The effect is immediate. Spitting and rinsing with water does not help. It is actually the crystal form of the compound that cause the sensation.

Colliers Mills Being Heavily Abused by ORV's

I'd like to see the makeup of those focus groups 46'r; region, age, gender, income, education, political party, etc. Results seem very skewed.

Colliers Mills Being Heavily Abused by ORV's

I am so sorry, I should have made it clear what the Manchester thread contained. Next time I'll provide a synopsis. I hope I am forgiven for this transgression. It won't happen again.

    There goes the neighborhood

I agree, should not happen. I remember about 15 years ago I brought the family to Lake Absegami in Bass River state forest. Swimming, hot dogs, burgers, tater salad, ice tea, cake, you know the deal. Anyway, I started noticing some of the patrons (who looked like they were from the city) were...
