    Where is this?

I suppose I'll have to wait until someone identifies that location with the building. I don't know where it is. In the meanwhile, where is this?

    Not your father's river

Thanks for that update Ed. I too used to run the rivers like that in the 70's, but mainly the Oswego and Mullica. I see in one of your photos that there was a hellacious burn? Even the cedars are crisped. If you want to try it in a day someday(Burnt Bridge to Speedwell), I'd be game. A GPS...

    Not your father's river

PS: A stand of dead cedar trees makes for an interesting photo, but the Beaver's work is usually what kills them.

    Not your father's river

I went downstream on the Wading today beginning on route 563 at Burnt Bridge. I went a little more than halfway to the reservoir, and then came back (that was by design, I was looking for a plant). Anyway, it's kind of a mess back there in most spots. I hit 4 beaver dams, all a big pain to...

And...that does 'look' like a ginseng in your photo, but unless I am familiar with the plant, I try to never declare a species without having the inflorescence as part of the study. And...the genus Ginseng has about 11 separate species.

However, you were with me when I found that dwarf ginseng in Bear Swamp next to the big sand lake...

    The NEW Beer Thread

Having a Pine Snake at Calico. Too slithery (er, hoppy) for me, but others liked it.

    Lock's Bridge

That sounds exactly like the first night of one of those geological get-togethers that Spung-Man often attends in other countries where they ponder greatly upon the how and why the earth's upper crust has shifted and changed over the years. :)
