DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I don't believe so, but most people who get the permit are fishermen. What I had read on a Tackle Shop Facebook page, you are probably already too late in getting a permit. There is a list of the required equipment you need to carry in the vehicle. The Island Beach SP web site would give you...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

I had mention this before on another post about the $195 permit fee. That is an annual fee to drive our Mobile Sportfishing Vehicle (4-Wheel Drive) on the beach at Island Beach SP. There is a limited number of permits available per year. At the toll booth (only one entrance) there is a day...

    Blind Boat And A Blind

Also, if you go into NJPB Maps, Satellite view, and move the map over to where Jackson Rd crosses the Mullica River, and then zoom in, the image will turn to 'bird eye'. But I don't get it in Bing Maps.

    Where is this?

Bob, you know me well enough now that I'm always up for a challenge. I've been exploring the Pines for the past 13 years, using the MAP feature on the Forum extensively in planning my trips. So I know the land features in the core area of the Pine Barrens quite well. Looking at the land...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

Yes, there is a quota for the yearly permit to drive on the beach. More then likely they are already sold out. I believe there is a special three day permit. Ever since 1971 when I started surf fishing in the Park, there has always been a entrance fee. I being over 62, I get in free. So...

DEP Announces Virtual Public Meeting to Launch Wharton State Forest Visitor and Vehicle Use Survey

The $195 permit fee noted in the article is a special yearly permit to drive a 4-wheel drive vehicle on the beach. There has alway been a small fee to gain access to the Park payable at the Gate. If you are a resident 62 and over, you can obtain a Senior Pass Card at the Gate House to have...

    Track

Dog: Overall roundish shape toes. 2 & 3 claw is relatively low and close to heel pad. Toes 1 &b 4 point outwards. Coyote: Overall oval shape toes. Toes 2 & 3 sit almost on top of 1 & 4. Claws pont inward. Therefore my guess, and it's just a guess, it is a coyote. Where were the tracks, in...

Bob. If you go, I got everything you need, 2 spotting scopes, a professional tripod, and various field guides, one signed by Roger Tory Peterson. My sister was a avid birder.

    Seafood in the Pines

This link was just uploaded on the Web today. https://www.onlyinyourstate.com/new-jersey/scenic-country-road-trip-nj/ Here's a youtube video of two couples visiting the Allen's Clam Bar. My fishing buddy of 67 years had mentioned this place a couple times to me. But he goes there for the clams.

    The Market & the Auctions

"What does it Take" was recorded in 1969. Bob, you was just a kid at that time, I was a 24 year old man. This was a significant time period for me. I graduated from College in 1968, and in the Fall of that year I was in Basic Training at Fort Dix. (My first experience of the Pine Barrens) The...

Harker Auction Co. (I just looked it up) 391 Medford Lake Rd, Tabernacle. I took a quick look at their Facebook page. It looks like an interesting place to stop. I'll hit Murphy's Mart too while in the area. I was out in the Pines right before Thanksgiving with a friend from Medford. He...

    The Market & the Auctions

There were three Marts, what they were called at the time, back in the 50's early 60's in my younger days. The Berlin Marts, shown above, the Pennsauken Mart near the intersection of Route 130 and Route 73, and the Merchantville Mart on Cuthbert Rd between Route 70 and Route 38. They were all...

    Hiking socks

Hey now. I saw an old post where you went down, and even smiled at the camera. It would take me a while to find it, but Guy just might be able to go right to it. So Bob, what socks do you wear?

    Hiking socks

For my Pine Barren activities I use by old Wigwam socks. For some reason, I have the tendency of going down over my boots at times. Away from the Pines, I wear Darn Tough socks for hiking and casual wear.
