Ancient graves of Sayers & Ludlams

I have not see that dog leg in any of the maps I have looked at. Another map I looked at showed a completely different from any other maps I seen. http://www.westjerseyhistory.org/maps/countymaps/Atlantic%20County%20-%20Beers%20Comstock%20and%20Cline%20-%201872.shtml

Ancient graves of Sayers & Ludlams

Yesterday I took a walk in there. I followed the old road from 1st Ave and I was able to still see the old road. I had to weave thru all the laurels but I was able to make it to where I think the graves would be. Their was a old fence that I was barely able to see so I had to be at the right...

Ancient graves of Sayers & Ludlams

Correct I was heading north up the trail and got really close to where it would be. I didn't see any fence at all so I must not have made it close enough. The trail coming from 1st Ave looked to be not as thick so I will give it a try that way soon. What kind of fence was it?

Ancient graves of Sayers & Ludlams

Yes this is the right area. Are your maps able to be downloaded on a Android phone? Id like to have the LIDAR maps while I'm walking around. The diagonal road off is still somewhat walkable till you get about where the graves would be and the laurel bushes get really thick.

Ancient graves of Sayers & Ludlams

I didn't see any no trespassing signs as I went in right where the diagonal road starts at Cape May Ave. It is very grown in now so it would be hard to see a old cemetery if it was there and i didn't see any fence.

This shows it close to the corner of present 1st ave and Cape May ave in Estelle Manor. I have tried to walk...

Spung-Man, I've looked where I can find the book and seems Stockton has a copy. I'm gonna have to stop by there one day and check it out. Thanks for all the info so far. Seems like a lot of history around south jersey was never recorded or forgotten thru time. I'm gonna hike some more of the...

Any info on Swain's Stopping Place

Hi I'm a new member here but have been coming to here for a while. I've been searching all over for any info on the old "Swain's Stopping Off Place" along the old cape May stage road. Only place I've seen anything about it is on the Hartman survey. On Hartman Survey 8 it says it was there in...
