Busy beavers gnawing away at New Jersey man’s patience, one tree at a time

Just checking back on this thread. I agree neighborhoods don't care unless you try and put something in their backyards that they don't agree with (NIMBYs). Not sure what you mean about a different take. My whole thing has been to hold the entities that preach preservation and are responsible...

Busy beavers gnawing away at New Jersey man’s patience, one tree at a time

The old Ocean Spray Cranberry Canning factory off of Cranberry Canners Road. History falls to the ground while the newspapers highlight the gnawing beaver upstream.

Busy beavers gnawing away at New Jersey man’s patience, one tree at a time

Teegate, I just posted a few images I shared to the Facebook group discussing this. The reporting seemed more sensational and headline-grabbing than being of substance. The bottom line is that NJCF and NBP have a stake in managing the property. I have a sentimental connection to that location...

    The MAP is back

As a writer and a self proclaimed Piney here is a piece I wrote on the subject back in May of 2021. Thought I'd share here. The new Map and the same old attitude is now what I see as the reason why the film I produced was banned from being screened at Batsto. You can search on YouTube and watch...

    Tory Pine Tree Robbers

Side note this is the fella that stood next to Governor Fielder of New Jersey in 1913 as they hunted for examples of dangerous Pineys in Vincetown. I guess they found enough for the headline in the 1913 Boston Evening Transcript newspaper titled New Jersey's Degenerates. Hanging out with...

    Various Websites

A little off-topic but this image has a story to tell in itself. I wrote something up for the October release of SoJourn for Stockton. My greatuncle and greataunt's house featured here no longer stands on the boarder of Jackson Township and Plumsted Township.

    Finding an Old Book

Bob, yeah I understand that. I was just asking to borrow your photo capture of the article and I'd always cite the original. No worries I can dig up the article on newspapers.com. It's a neat piece of writing on Bisbee I have a copy of his Place Names that came with a supplemental of 'Before...

    Finding an Old Book

Bob, Could you email me that image and give me permission to use it as I see fit? Great talk about our common vernacular changing. Same as Piney names for plants like Catspaws and Buttons.

Webbs Mill flooded since July 22nd

That flooding had been resolved back then on July 14th. I was at the area after that and the Pognias and Pinks were up and water levels were fine. I saw @GermanG the day they were there inspecting it from rte.539. This is a new blockage that has what looks like 4 beaver lodge mounds on the backroad.

Webbs Mill flooded since July 22nd

I know I read back in June where German unplugged the beaver stoppage at Webbs Mills. Not sure how to tag folks here but can anyone report this to the right authorities? The Goldcrest and bog asphodel has been underwater for weeks now. Not to mention the water is a foot or so from Rte. 539 now...

    Colliers Mills WMA- sawmill locations?

Hello everyone, I've been staying close to home and doing some reexploring of Colliers Mills. I did some searching here on the forum but didn't come up with anything relating to a cement structure I found off of the Shannoc branch that goes to Success lake. I read at one time there was a...

Hessian Island and a marker near by with initials JB

Teegate, It's only one stone. We might head back out and look around a bit as we were looking for something else when we found this. Someone else mentioned J.D.Beers having owned a lot of land in the Pines area south of Ocean County. I'd disclose the location to you via email and or an escort...

Hessian Island and a marker near by with initials JB

So I'm trying to nail down the initials and history of this specific marker. Below is a comment on my Facebook page I made. I did a quick search here looking for pictures of markers. There was a discussion on the Jones Tract in Chatsworth and initially, someone proposed to me that the marker...
