How come there is no 'Finding the Jersey Devil' cable TV series? It must have flown to other states and pilaged and raped there; gotta be some offspring out there.

That was a wild story, I tell it to my students every year at Halloween. I like how McCloy and Miller present it in their book, that at the turn of the century, people made statements that the Jersey Devil myth was dead and done, destroyed by the modern world and modern living, only to have it explode bigger than ever in 1909. My kids act tough until he shows up in the town they live in, then they get scared, it's great. I always end by pointing out that belief in the Jersey Devil has again been all but destroyed by the modernism of today, and that maybe the time is right for another Phenomenal Week... (also there's a young person novel in that line of thought. I call dibbs).
