Pretty impressive for apple core folks, and the price isn't bad for 20 megapixies.

Govmint's don't think that way. This is a sample of the 2100 megapixwel camera currently in use by them, this example from CA. What does slavishly mean?

This picture was taken with a 70,000 x 30,000 pixel camera (2100 Megapixels.) These cameras are not sold to the public and are being installed in strategic locations.
The camera can identify a face among a multitude of people. Place your computer’s cursor anywhere in the mass of people and double-click a couple times.

Some faces are quite blurry. But in the end with various photos everyone would be clear.

Given the distances and wide angle of that single photo, the results are amazing. Probably the same, or similar technology the satellite camera's use.

Thanks for the help; it looked like a Bobpbx creation. Bit of a stretch to compare a camera to slavery though. But to each their own :smug:

I thought that consumers were not supposed to slavishly pay attention to more megapixels?

That's generally true. For most people more megapixels just equates to bigger files. Having more MP is helpful when you crop pictures. It's a lifesaver when I photograph the local Roller Derby team since the action is often so fast that it's hard to do a decent composition.
