On Labor Day 9/1/08 the Folcher Family gathered at Pine Barrens Canoe Livery for their annual bash along the winding Wading. They traveled from nearby Mystic Islands and faraway Germany and many points between such as the hills of Roxborough and Manayunk, The Lehigh Valley, Bucks County, all over South Jersey, along with some hailing from parts unknown.

17 canoes set out around noon at Evans Bridge with Beaver Branch aka Charcoal Landing as our final stop. Even in these low water conditions Beaver Branch remains a great place to take a dip. With our 17 vessels slowing making headway due to the low water and overloaded cargo and passengers, we all forgot about our stressfull existences for one afternoon and soaked in the tranquil pine country with about 75 other rental clowns who shared the river with us.

We did take care of our trash and some of our absent minded brothers and sisters too. The Wading has years of trash built up along the banks and covered over by soil and forest litter. The river being partly in Wharton State Forest maybe we should have a crew on the river or walking along the river in October at the cleanup.

Next year will be 30 years doing this thing! I will be posting pictures in the gallery hopefully tonight.
