Saturday sunrise hike with my son, we tried to explore Friendship some more, with incremental success. We pushed through briar land, but with double leather gloves, googles and briar pants we were a little better geared up this time. He made it to the bog shown at the bottom most leg, hopping onto and over the "quaking bog" that I just learned about on the forum. He tried to get me over to the dike but after being warned by Teegate that I might be swallowed whole, I refused to risk my gear and personhood. When I told my son about quaking bogs, he became suddenly timid, and had a hard time getting back he was so afraid of getting eaten by the bog. It was a nice workout.
