A.C. Airport and N.A.F.E.C.- what was there before?

You know it just occurred to me that the ground that is occupied by NAFEC and the AC Airport is a huge piece of ground. I wonder- does anyone know how long those places have been there, and what was there before? Were there any historic sites lost? I'm guessing they were put there long before the Pinelands Commission came into being.
I wasn't quite sure which forum this post belonged in.

I'm not sure about the answer to your question, but I do know that they are listed priority sites because of the t&e wildlife there (birds)
