A carpet of Sand Myrtle

Yesterday morning we took an early, damp walk on one of our favorite hidden trails and found carpets of Sand Myrtle in bloom. It extended on both sides of the trail for a good part of 1/2 mile.

Now is a good time to get out to see this stuff. Coming up are Turkey Beard and Sheep Laurel.

The waterways are starting to bloom.

Nice location Ed. I will have to check my Lady Slipper spot next weekend. It usually runs a little late so I might see them.

Beautiful! Remember when your wife showed me a lone plant of Sand Myrtle at Parker Preserve? My first. I later found a whole swath of it, not far from the Tulpe, and couldn't believe the lovely effect. What a bright contrast the teaberry makes! Thanks for these photos!

Very nice, Ed. I've been noticing a lot of sheep laurel about, and the mountain laurel on my property (I have a lot of them)is in full bloom.
