I recently revisited an area which was thought to be a sawmill site in Stafford Forge. I wanted to make a day of it and decided to hike in from Rt 539. I was blazing my own trail and using fire cuts, trying to stay off any roads as much as possible on my way in. While walking parallel to Pollypod Road, I came across an area that had trees tagged in blue. Some of these trees were laying on the ground. Each tag had a identification number. There were also two holes that had been dug out by hand. The location is roughly seventy-five feet by seventy-five feet square. I was curious to what was being studied here. Fire recovery? (A small blue tag, barely noticeable, is all that marks the location along side of Pollypod Road.)
