I recently moved into a new house (new for me the house is abbout 30yo). anyway, I was moving some stuff around downstairs (it is a bi-level) and under a floor lamp I was surpised to find a small garter snake. This amused me to no end. It was only about 7" long and didn't even try to bite me as i picked him up. I got all excited and brought him upstairs to show my wife...she didn't share my enthusiam.
But anyway I thought it was funny. There are a few crickets about down stairs and I figured this attacted him. Don't know how he got in. I set him free in the yard and I suppose he has plenty of time to find shelter for hibernation with this weather we have been having.
