All,
It was a busy day and I hope you enjoy my small review of it.
Early this morning Jessica and I headed out as usual to do some searching, and our first stop was 60 feet of of Ridge Road near Lower Bank in a dense portion of woods where we found this stone.
The next location was 450 feet off of Ridge Road where we were looking for a "Locust Post." The woods were full of almost impenetrable brier and it took us forever to go the distance. This post has survived over 65 years at this location, and was almost destroyed by the downed tree that landed on top of it.
On our way out of the area we visited this body of water where we saw this lone tree on an island that had been decimated by beavers.
Al and I will be in this area more in the coming months, and I found this recent Green Acres Monument that will help us in our search.
We then headed home and arrived here around 12:30, and by 3PM I was on my way to Bamber to meet up with bobpbx to do some exploring in the Bamber area. Our first stop was the stone he found recently.
A stream nearby.
Bob found this old chair waiting patiently for the person who left it there.
Spring is here!
This old bridge is still standing while the dike around it has washed away.
A tree growing right on top of it.
This was attached to the bridge. Any idea's?
Bob and Buddy crossing.
We moved on and found this wooden and concrete structure which you can see in the distance.
There was one half of a large Terra Cotta pipe stuck in the ground.
It was build apparently to channel the water through the concrete pipe for a reason we could not understand.
Bob checking out the end location of the pipe.
And more exploring found the other half of the Terra Cotta pipe.
The recent storms had destroyed our wooden boat.
So we broke down and bought a much more modern one. Bob named it after a magazine he reads all the time.
The ad in the paper said it was like new.
Bob taking it out for a spin. I had to yell at him....he could not keep his hands on the wheel.
I arrived home with my low gas light on and the tank on empty, twelve hours after my day first began.
