If you have not noticed them, there are AT&T Relay buildings all along 539 from north to south in various locations, with one of them being on 72 right before 539 heading east on the left side. Steve (behr655), you may remember it as the one we met at once on an outing. Anyway, if you have not been by there recently you may not have noticed that someone smashed the door down and it gave me an opportunity to see inside one of them.
Notice the building is just a covering over an underground entrance to the cables below. There is a door with latches on it and the door is welded shut. I can't decide if the door was welded shut recently after the destruction of the outside door.
Check out the old pest strips and the phone. I wonder if the long distance is free?
Something tells me they don't even know about this.
Apparently when they placed or place equipment in the ground it musts have some weight to it, so they have installed a pulley system on the ceiling that they can maneuver the equipment around and down with.
And as for what else I did while in the area, I searched for and found a stone for the property lines of the Greenwood Forest along the Chamberlain Branch. Actually, Jessica found it while I was 60 feet away.
