All,

With the time to search for stones coming to a close I decided to check a few locations I have been wanting to go to for a while. Our fist stop was a piece of property that at one time was owned by Francis French near the Merrygold Branch. I was hoping to find some initials on it but that was not to be.

It is always hard to get a good photo in the morning on a sunny day.

From there we traveled about 1000 feet and found this large stone with a corner broken off. Again I was hoping to find an inscription but was disappointed.

But wait ....... something sticking out of the leaves next to it.

Lets put it together and see what we have.

If by some chance the piece is alligned properly and there was nothing in between the two, we have either the letters I (eye) O B, or we have 10B or something entirely different. Then again there may have been more characters that have worn away after all of the years. Most of the stones of this size are from the late 1700s I suspect.

We then traveled a short distance down the road and found this stone buried next to a state monument. Most likely the top portion of this stone was broken off and the letters are missing. I found nothing underground. There was glass all along the edges of the stone and I cut my hand digging around it.
