I bought this jeep cherokee from my drummer.

I still have my legendary bronco.

The bronco is a battle proven veteran of the pines. It also has more lift and larger, more aggressive tires than the Jeep could ever have without an aftermarket lift. My plan is to replace the bronco with the jeep once the bronco finally dies, however, the bronco may never die. it has rolled down a cranberry bog embankment, been through water up to the door jams dozens of times, even caught on fire...yess on fire!! and it still just keeps going. It only got stuck twice, once when the hubs wouldn't lock up, and another on ice when the Mud tires just spun.

I don't know. It is almost not worth selling it. the cherokees have a great reputation though. what to do?

I used to have a jeep wrangler YJ. it was a real lemon and seemed to get stuck a lot. Couldn't handle deep snow either. from everything I've heard and seen from other jeeps, I don't know why my old YJ was like that.

Boy, I'm really going to miss that bronco showing up 5 minutes late for every PBX outing. Now we'll have to shield our eyes from the glare when the cherokee comes around the corner. :D

The straight six in the Jeep is bulletproof Jeff and will outlive the truck. My son is still driving our old '98 Grand Cherokee and it has an ubelieveable number of miles on the clock. The running gear is just right for stock tires and you wouldn't want to go big on the rubber. They fit nicely on tight trails and the 4WD works well.

He just had the fuel pump replaced which is not an easy job since it is inside the tank. Other than that, the carrier bearings in the rear diff were replaced about two months ago. He won't part with it. It certainly wasn't babied as he drowned it twice killing the trans the first time. He continues to tow an enclosed decoy trailer with it every weekend from September to April.

He bought a new 2013 GMC 4WD Sierra Crew cab pickup in May and it sits in the driveway most days. He says he doesn't want to put any miles on it so he runs the Jeep !

Here's mom checking for pickerel in the second drowning this winter:

Those older Cherokees are like gold to the guys that fish the surf. Son looked for one but could not find one in good enough condition, plenty with rust though. He bought one of the last Libertys. Jeep is resurecting the Cherokee name, supposed to be available in Sept-Oct, but its no where close to the original. Will take some getting used too. Good luck with yours.

Jeff, you need to get some scratches on that cherokee! I've had my pickup 6 years, I've broken mirrors off, hit trees, gotten stuck and had a ball with it!. Good luck with the new wheels.
