http://finance.yahoo.com/news/administration-defends-collecting-phone-records-115452738.html

"....the NSA has been collecting the telephone records of millions of U.S. customers of Verizon under a top secret court order.

The order requires Verizon, one of the nation's largest telecommunications companies, on an "ongoing, daily basis" to give the NSA information on all telephone calls in its systems, both within the U.S. and between the U.S. and other countries. "

I saw on the news this morning there is another project called prism(sp) for monitoring internet traffic. I wonder how the Brits find out about this stuff before we do?

I read about that yesterday and just had to laugh. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-denies-giving-government-direct-000616461.html

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Major tech companies including Apple Inc, Google and Facebook Inc on Thursday said they do not provide any government agency with "direct access" to their servers, contradicting a Washington Post report that they have granted such access under a classified data collection program.
__________

"We have never heard of PRISM," said Apple spokesman Steve Dowling.

If it's s secret program, then obviously they are going to deny that they have ever heard of it. :D
