Forgive me if this is the wrong place to ask - I am wondering how to find out when this is open. I'm able to head out there today and would do so if the tower is open for viewing. The last time I went out it was not open. I am wondering also if this is a good idea due to the red flag warning. Thanks.

Give them a call and ask if the towers will be manned. They may give you a direct number to call the tower itself (I can't remember off the top of my head.) I can probably guarantee that Apple Pie Hill will be manned, especially with the red flag warning added on top of the drought conditions we've been experiencing.
IMO I'd hold off on going today if you can. Everyone's going to be on high alert. Maybe head up tomorrow as it looks like the winds will stay under 10 mph.

Thanks. I decided to hold off because I've noticed the winds have picked up. I'll stick to the WMA nearby for today or maybe just drive to Deep Run instead.
