This is the newest masterpiece from Johnson-Atelier and the Sculpture Foundation Studio located in Hamilton. These impressive , two and a half story tall figures are a three dimensional interpretation of Grant Wood's famous "American Gothic" painting. The early morning sun, filtered through a dim overcast sky, make the sculpture even more pensive and drab.

Very interesting. I got into architecture school with a sculpture portfolio. So this has peaked my interest.

Where is this sculpture? In Hamilton New Jersey? The link does not mention the sculpture and the website of the creators (in Mercerville) looks like it is from 1994 http://www.atelier.org/index.htm and does not mention a school. Thanks for any further info.

PancoastDrifter, this sculpture is located by the Hamilton train station on Sloan Avenue and just off 295. There are many in the area, ranging from lifelike to abstract. Grounds for Sculpture is located on Sculpture Way in Hamilton and is a minute away from the train station. They have tours and here is the link- http://www.groundsforsculpture.org/

I must admit, having a studio nearby is exciting because there is always a new display. Every sculpture has a soul of its own, that changes with the day and seasons. Snow, falling leaves and summer nights add to their character. You don't know what to expect because they quickly set up the displays. One day there is nothing and the next day - surprise!

Btw- Your welcome Pancoast.

This is another roadside art piece, located in Hamilton, a stone's throw down the road from the sculpture above. This quad of Spaniards was created by Garrett McFann in 2000 and is on loan from the Sculpture Foundation. This sculpture is fourteen feet tall and painted aluminum. It is titled - The Four Amigos.
