I do know that the nature center at Batsto has an artesian well next to it. Not sure if he is still there but a guy named Gill used to run the nature center and he might be able to you more about them. A friend of mine is in the well drilling business and his family has been doing it for years. I'll ask him and see what he has to say.

does anyone have any information about artesian wells in the pines?

Deja Vu. From Ebsi's post back in May:

"One of my correspondents remarked about the artesian well at Harrisville or "Harrisa." Do you know if these places are identical? When you were at Harrisville, did you see an artesian well? Do you know of any other artesian wells in The Pines --- at abandoned sites/ghost towns? --- that are actually in use today?

There is/was an artesian well east of rte 9 near Barnegat... I recall driving out an old farm road towards the marsh, & next to an old shack was a vertical pipe about 2' high with water flowing out. Forget what brought me there, for all I know its been developed now.
