Atlantic White Cedar (for Christmas)

so that is what they are called. i like the solidude and the feel of being in a cedar swamp

often when i see a stand of cedars i think of "port-orford cedars" i think i got the spelling right

to get a bow hunting licence years ago i have to take a training course and test and pass it

one of the questions were "what kind of wood is used for wooden arrows?"
a: port-orford cedar, it is perminatly stuck in my mind, LOL when more important stuff gets deleted

i guess my brain does not have a big enough hard drive ! LOL
 
If you go by what the article says; yes:

Decline of cedar swamps. It must be emphasized that the general trend has been toward conversion to other wetland types. In addition to disturbances noted earlier, the decline of the Pinelands cedar wetlands has been hastened by rising sea level, flooding for cranberry production, creation of industry-related reservoirs and recreational lakes, and drainage for agriculture and residential development (Roman et al. 1987).

If you recall, about 10? years ago the state gave farmers permission to convert a total of 300 acres of wetland into cranberries. Not sure if cedars were included, but probably some were.
