LACEY -- Four township residents have been charged with criminal mischief after causing about $2,700 in damage to sites in Lacey's rural Bamber Lake section, police said.
The arrests were announced yesterday after a monthlong investigation into a series of criminal mischief occurrences in Bamber Lake, police said.
Taken into custody were two men, age 18 and 21; a woman, 19, and a 17-year-old girl, according to police. Their names were not released yesterday.
A house being built sustained $1,100 in damage; graffiti was spray-painted inside, police said.
Similar graffiti -- about 100 feet in length -- was found on the surface of Phillips Road; $100 worth of damage was done there, police said.
And much of the Bamber Lake wooden footbridge was spray-painted with graffiti, causing $1,500 in damage, police said.
"The police hope that this arrest will act as a deterrent against the repeated acts of criminal mischief the footbridge has sustained since being erected," the department said in a written statement.
Detective Michael DiBella Jr. investigated. All of those charged were issued summonses and released with cases pending in either family or juvenile court, police said.
