Batona thru-hike camping permit question

I'm planning a three day, two night thru-hike on the Batona Trail for a weekend coming up. I'm reserving campsites ahead of time in Wharton through the NJ Outdoors website. It says on there that you need to check in the day of at the Batsto office. For those who have done such a thru-hike on the Batona, is that a hard and fast rule or can you work something out with the office to obtain a printable permit or get both at once at the office? It would be ideal if I could just print the permit out ahead of time and carry on me so I don't need to make one stop per day at the office to get that evening's permit. Thanks!

I've never thru-hiked the Batona but I've made on-line camping reservations, checked in to said campsite after (office) hours. The next morning while prepping to go register at Batsto, NJSPP came up. He checked & verified that I really had a reservation. He then stated "you don't really need to go register, but they want you to so you can be made aware of current fire regulations"

I reserve campsites online, usually the afternoon I head out and do not go to the office to register (mostly because they are closed when I go out). I’ve never had a problem, but I do recommend that you print out the reservation before leaving. You could open the email showing the reservation if needed, but signal may be poor at the site, so it’s best to have it printed out ahead of time.
