Batona trail hike Bass River to Lebanon

Hello everyone I plan on hiking the Batona trail March 20th to the 22nd and I had a few questions that I need some help with. If I plan on hiking around 17 miles a day what would be opportune places to camp and will I need to obtain a camping permit for the trip?

Bankman,

You do need a camping permit which you can get at Batsto Village, and possibly also by mail.

The closest campsites to the 17 & 34 mile points northbound along the trail, would be Buttonwood campground before Batsto Village, and the Batona campground near Carranza.

Buttonwood would require a short deviation from the Batona Trail lengthening your walk by about a mile.

Your third day would be close to 20 miles.
