Thanks, James. If the weather cooperates, I think I'll head to Batsto that night. I used to join the South Jersey Astronomy club for their sessions, located in Belleplain State Forest -- the skies are nice and dark in BSF, probably the best in the state. But the barrens offer great skies, too.

I noticed your moon-shots gallery over on the photos page. Lovely. I have a couple of scopes, a 4" TeleVue refractor and a 10" Schmidt Cassegrain (the refractor gets 99% of my use), but have not tried to use either for photography; just some camera-only (on tripod) time-exposure efforts of the comets that spun by several years back.

Thank you for the moon pics comment.I have a 8"meade lx90 schmidt,is your 10" a celestron or a meade? i took those shots with the meade lpi imager which has a cmos chip,a way better solution for lunar-planetary imaging would be a philips toucam,or celestrons imager which has a ccd chip.Televue is the cadillac of scopes.

Saturday Weather Looking Excellent!

Figured this would entice people even more to attend. Might make a camping night out of this one.

Saturday: 73 and Sunny
Saturday Night: 47 and clear

Doesn't get much better than that for the first REAL weekend of spring for a star watch!

I wasn't sure where to post this message; it probably doesn't belong here on this section of the forum, but I didn't want to start a thread that stands out on its own; I hereby apologize ahead of time to those who have taken the time to open this.

The reason for this post is partly to make a non pine-barren event announcement, but it's being written mainly in hope of touching base with any Forum member(s) that enjoy a University of Pennsylvania (WXPN) radio program called STAR'S END. The music aired on this show is spacious and ambient (and most often classified as spacemusic). If there is any justification I can find for posting it on a skywatch thread, it is because the music is often inspired by the wonders of the universe (think Sagan's "Cosmos" soundtrack). I've always paired the music with my experiences in the pine barrens. After all, space appears barren, yet is full of all riches of life -- and the barrens, when one peers closely, are far from being as barren as they seem. The same can be said for this genre of sound arrangement.

Anyway, if there happens to be ANOTHER listener to the radio show besides yers truly here on the Forum, please check out this link:

http://www.hypnos.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=1163&sid=760df7a5470855663c51a377b22b1a5d

(sorry for the long url; not sure how to hyperlink here)

The link sort of explains (in my typically offbeat way) what's going on -- so, again, if you happen to enjoy the music, there's contact info available there as well (that is, if you might be interested in joining a relatively small group of down-to-earth gatherers).

I'll delete this post in a couple of days, since it is off topic. And, oh, the duck parts of the post at the link above are not to be taken seriously. I suppose we should be thankful I don't post here more often than I do. :)
