When Hurricane Irene struck in the summer, floodwaters washed through historic Batsto Village, encircling the quaint workers' cottages, pouring into crawl spaces, and soaking floors.
The gristmill, mule barn, sawmill, Batsto Nature Center, and a dozen other buildings at the Wharton State Forest attraction were inundated as the Batsto and Mullica Rivers left their banks.
Nearly three months later, the picturesque village in Washington Township, Burlington County, is almost back to normal, with few lingering aftereffects of the hurricane.
On Tuesday, officials from the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry and Wharton State Forest plan to meet to discuss the work that remains.
