Best Places for Photographs

Hello!

Hopefully I put this in the correct forum. A friend and I are looking to head down to the pine barrens to take some photos. I've been down to hike from Carranza to Apple Pike Hill before, but obviously that doesn't cover much ground (only around 4 miles out). I've heard Atsion Lake is worth visiting, but you all would know the best spots.

What locations do you guys recommend? Any tucked away gems that we can only access on foot?

If you are looking for plants to photograph, the boardwalk is doing well this year I hear. You can see it here in the aerial. Park along the road and walk the trail in.

You can also try Whitesbog. A little bit of history and plenty of bogs to roam around in using a car or truck.

Then try the Parker Preserve. Park here and walk in.

Close by there is another section of the Parker Preserve. Enter here and park at the gate. if it is open don't drive in. Walk in.

We've been to Parker Southgate West last week and did the loop around Bald Eagle Reservoir. Lots of birds, plants and animals. Flies too.

Welcome to the forum. What kind of photo's are you interested; nature, history?

If you take Tee's suggestion for the boardwalk, please stay on the boardwalk; that area is taking a lot of abuse this year after several years of nothingness due to Beaver squatters.

I never get tired of photographing at Batsto, I always find new ways to look at those old buildings. The White Trail leading out from there (4 miles) is also good for some nice woods and lake shots.

Nearby, you can park at the Pleasant Mills Church lot and walk down the road to the old paper mill. It's private property, but you can get some dramatic views from the road.

I 2nd or 3rd or whichever we're up to the Parker Preserve. The Batona (8.2 miles one way) between the Apple Pie Hill and the border of Brendan Byrne has a nice mix of forest, bog, and swamp. You can cut a mile out if you start at 532 and not the fire tower. There are also the various other trails on the map ecampbell posted, you can't go wrong with any trail through the preserve.

I've been to Whitesbog before, GORGEOUS place. I went when it was a bit stormy and the clouds looked great, especially when reflected on all the bogs! Thanks for the recommendations, I'll check out that boardwalk.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm mainly looking to see great views, but I have a photographer friend that's interested in all of the above. I'm looking up pygmy pine locations, secret lakes (I heard there are gorgeous blue ones), and such. Any tips on cool locations would be appreciated - some places off the beaten path, if you will! We will absolutely use common sense and avoid trekking where it would harm any wildlife or the grounds!

Great, thanks for the tips! That paper mill sounds especialyl intriguing and I had no idea it was down there.
