That map is strange, the outage looks huge when you are zoomed out. When you zoom in to a reasonable level, it doesn't look so big. I have Verizon DSL and have not seen any problems today.

I saw a report that some police departments in the southern part of the state were attributing phone their phone problems to Verizon having a large problem with phone service, including the 911 number.

A union worker doing something to hurt the company he works for? Nah, this is America
