I headed out early this morning with bobpbx to look for a possible stone at the beginning of the Greenwood Forest Tract, and help Bob with a little research. Unfortunately, both plans came up a little short but we still had a great day in the cedar swamps.
I can tell you for certain we were in places today where very few humans ever visit. Bob was at our first location 15 years ago and I doubt very many people have been there since.
We found Swamp Pink.
And this nice specimen of Swamp Bayberry (myrica heterophylla).
Some of the cedars along the edge of the Chamberlain were huge! Most were semi basic like these various trees.
Then to Warren Grove where we traveled an old logging road. It appears to me on HistoricAerials that this road may have been used as recent as the 1980s.
