I stumbled across this postcard on the internet the other day, and I was wondering if the blue hole ever had this kind of fame.

If I recall, as you head southeast just past the AC expressway and you take the right fork as you head toward the hole, there is an old home with a stone wall similar to the one in the postcard.

Can this be from THE Blue Hole?

Neil in SJ:

Curt Teich published this post card about 1940 for E. B. Ackley of Castalia, Ohio, the location of this Blue Hole. The Castalia Blue Hole had similar folklore and information to our Blue Hole, including the depth of the water feature being unknown and presumed bottomless; an underground spring feeds it; and the water temperature remains a constant 48 degrees year round.

The entrance stonework reminds of Vineland's Palace of Depression.

It would be great if we celebrated our Blue Hole in the same manner as the one in Castalia!

Best regards,
Jerseyman
