I saw a bobwhite along 532 near my house a couple days ago. It was, not surprisingly, in an area where there was a recent controlled burn. I got out of the car and it ran into the woods a bit and hid (very poorly) under some branches. I walked right up to it. I mean, litterally standing over it. I said "boo" and it flew off finally. Really good looking bird.
come to think of it, I approached a mouse near apple pie hill the other night and had to kneel down next to it before it took off. I must be the bird and rodent whisperer.
