This is my first post here. Great site, lots of good info. Do i need to tell a joke or something to get started?

Question: Where exactly was Bodine's Tavern?

Is it down by the canoe take out at Beaver branch, or is over by Bodine's Field?

I know there are old bridge supports over by the field just up river from the beach area. No bridge supports that can find over by the take out. And i know that the Tavern was located by the bridge.

Thx for your help.

The tavern is right next to thos bridge pilings.it's just a cellar hole now with a few stones visible in the side of the hole which were undoubtedly part of the wall.the hole is right next to the field in a patch of trees literally within sight of the pilings.

If this helps, when you pull into the entrance to the Bodine field camping area, park off to your right close to the wading river, walk along the wading and you should see it, the cellar hole of it at least. It is very close to the river, you'll know when your there because there is a cedar tree that has a few stones encased around its trunk. One of my favorite places in the pines, there is a few mentions about it in the martha furnace diaries. Have fun

I'll get back there and poke around. Canoeing the river, i've gotten hung up on those pilings about a dozen times over the years. Never knew they were that old.

Looking at old maps the Tuckerton Stage Road looks to go straight as an arrow in this area. I guess it had some bends in it here and there.

Lots of history back there. Once the freezing weather comes in and knocks down the ticks I'm going to explore the entire area.

THX!
